What a lazy day

Today has been a rather lazy day. I woke up very late, and was quite unapologetic about it. I’m an insomniac of the highest order, and no matter what I do I can’t sleep at night. The only solution that has been offered to me time and again is a mild sleeping pill, which I can take happily without being worried about side effects. But the truth is I have far too much fun at night to ruin it by getting into bed.


But hey, don’t think I don’t have insomnia. I do, and very often (like, very) there are times when I can’t sleep at night despite having woken up early the previous morning and had a really tiring day. I twist and turn in my bed through the entire night. Ultimately I have to give my efforts up and go open the fridge. Food acts as a mild tranquilizer at night. Bet you didn’t know that.

So the point is that being insomniac can be a real pain in the ass during college days and exam days. Those are the days that you literally threaten sleep to come or else you’ll pop 10 sleeping pills at once, thinking that it’s actually gonna work. But it doesn’t, instead you become mentally stressed and exhausted. I bet that if someone were to click your photograph at that time, you’d look constipated. At least I would. Sigh.

Insomnia is not just a struggle, it’s a war, and having come out of another one recently, I’m feeling quite victorious and happy about myself (what a narcissistic remark) Thank god I can finally stop resisting it, and thank god my mom doesn’t cook me alive because of my extremely unacceptable sleeping hours. You already know what I do all night (for all those who didn’t read the previous post – No, I don’t watch porn) watching random dance videos and recipe videos.

Today I was literally hauled out of bed by my best friend, who I was supposed to meet in the evening for a session of badminton. I had made the promise myself, but was still grumpy about the fact that I was being kicked out of bed during the wee hours of the afternoon by my best friend’s never ending phone calls. Who invented this contraption called ‘Mobile phone’ anyway? If I had it my way I would chuck mine into the bin. It’s more trouble than it’s worth.


Lastly, the best thing I had today was a yummy gulab jamun, courtesy my mom. And the one song that’s stuck in my head since morning (oops, afternoon) is Heer from Jab Tak Hai Jaan. It’s a tacky album, but it has two good songs including Heer.

  1. hey girl stop cribbing and get in action you need a reality check and a great improvement in your scedule get out of your post exams blues and get going, see the sun shine not setting, hear the birds chirruping not sleeping n dozing away….ur life will be a better one trust me…and last but not the least good blog *pats on the back* atleast post your daily routine regularly on this blog *begging you*

  2. have you tried melatonin? You can find them with the natural stuff in almost any grocery store/pharmacy. I used to work at the bank and got robbed, and after that I too had insomnia. Melatonin is just a natural sleep aid, so it has no side effects… I used to take like 2 or 3 pills and it would knock me out, and it helped regulate my sleep.
    Oh and did you see Jab Tak Hai Jaan? I haven’t seen it yet but have heard rave reviews.
